Big Buck Kohl!

Because this is the first post on this blog, it's probably a good idea to give you a little background on Wisconsin Senator and Milwaukee Bucks owner Herb Kohl. Kohl is now in his 4th term as Wisconsin Senator and unless he decides to step down, he is bound to remain there. Kohl is a big Wisconsin man, having spent majority of his life here and graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. An avid sportsman, Kohl bought the Milwaukee Bucks franchise in 1985 and continues to be the man in the front today.

Despite the struggles that the Bucks are having, Kohl has no troubles getting the big bucks in Washington. In the last 10 years, Kohl has raised over 20 million dollars and has become a very well known incumbent. There are not too many brave souls that are willing to even challenge Kohl because of how safe his seat really is. However, a drastic change in the Senate did occur when long time democratic Senator Russ Feingold was ousted by Ron Johnson in the 2010 midterm elections.

For the last couple of elections, Kohl only spent an estimated about of 11 million combined on both. He is a well known man in the state of Wisconsin and his incumbent advantage definitely helps save him quite some money. I was very curious when looking on Herb Kohl whether or not he can use the money that he makes off of the Milwaukee Bucks into his campaigns and fundraising totals. On an open secrets website you can see that Sen. Kohl has indeed received contributions from the Milwaukee Bucks. It hasn't been an incredibly large amount but it was still nearly six thousand dollars.

For more on Kohl you can check out his website or you can just stay posted till next week.
Enjoy!
